Summer Undergraduate MSTP Research ProgramWeb site: http://www.healthcare.uiowa.edu/mstp/The Summer Undergraduate MSTP Research Program is an intensive eight-to-ten-week experience for undergraduates interested in future careers as physician scientists. Participants gain experience in research laboratories and exposure to clinical medicine and medically relevant research in preparation for careers as physician scientists. Students conduct research in the laboratories of biomedical sciences faculty members, shadow physician scientists in clinical settings, participate in career development seminars, and attend a weekly seminar series focusing on the intersection of science and medicine. Participants receive a stipend for the program and live on campus in University housing. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have completed their junior year in a bachelor's degree program in the biological or physical sciences. Applicants should submit an application form (available on the program's web site); an official college transcript; and two letters of recommendation.
