The Board of Regents has given preliminary approval to a $100 tuition surcharge for University of Iowa fulltime students (prorated for part-time students) for spring semester 2010. The Board will vote for or against final approval at the December 9 Board of Regents meeting.

Tuition and fee tables have been updated to include the surcharge. Students who register for spring semester during early registration (November 16-20; November 30-December 8) will see the surcharge included in their projected tuition and fee assessment.

If the Board of Regents votes against the surcharge, it will be removed from tuition and fee tables as soon as possible thereafter. If the surcharge is granted final approval, the surcharge will remain in place and will be included as part of the spring semester tuition and fee assessment on the January 1, 2010, University bill. It will not be appealable.
