Tuition Assessment for "0" Semester Hour, Audit, Arranged, and Reduced-Credit Registrations

Auditing a course does not eliminate the payment of tuition and fees for the course.

Tuition assessment is based upon the number of semester hours for which a course is offered in the session, with a minimum of 1 fee hour per course. In addition, tuition and fee tables have a "zero to 2 semester hour" minimum rate, even if a student registers for only 0 or 1 semester hour. See Tuition and Fees Information page.

Normally, the number of fee hours assessed is the same as the number of semester hours for each course registration. However, fee hours sometimes does not equal semester hours, as explained below.

If a course is offered for 'arranged' s.h., tuition assessment is based on the number of semester hours for which you register, with the exception that '0' s.h. is assessed as 1 fee hour.

If a course is offered for '0' s.h., or one of the semester hour options is '0' and you register for '0' s.h., assessment will be for 1 fee hour.

If a course is available for more than one number of semester hours (e.g., 2 or 3 s.h.), and you register for '0' s.h., tuition is assessed at the rate of the minimum semester hours for which the course is offered. For example, if a course is offered for 2 or 3 s.h. and you register for '0' s.h., assessment will be for 2 fee hours.

If a course is offered for a set number of hours (for example, 3 s.h. with no options) and you register for '0' s.h., tuition is assessed at the rate of the number of semester hours for which the course is offered. For example, if a course is listed for 3 s.h. and you register for '0' s.h., assessment will be for 3 fee hours.

Reduced-Credit Registration:

A graduate student may register for fewer semester hours than the number of semester hours for which a course is offered in the session, but tuition is assessed at the rate of the minimum number of semester hours for which the course is listed. For example, if a course is listed for 3 s.h. and you register for 2 s.h., assessment will be for 3 fee hours.

Exceptions to the above are Ph.D. postcomprehensive registration, master's final registration, registrations in hospital certificate programs, study abroad, and cooperative education.
