Official Transcripts
An official transcript is a certified record of the academic work done at the University of Iowa. It includes classes taken, hours earned, grades received and degrees conferred. Many colleges require that transcripts sent to the student be in a sealed envelope. "Signature over flap" or "Sealed" means we stamp a signature on the back of the envelope to show the final recipient of the envelope that it has not been opened and the document inside has not been tampered. It typically is needed when turning in a packet of documents to another educational institution by the student him/herself. If you need to have your transcript sent to you in this manner, please indicate this at the time of your request.
Official transcripts from the University of Iowa are not sent in a sealed envelope unless so requested.
Transcript Key
The transcript key includes the policies and regulations governing official records, department and course numbering, as well as the grading system and symbols explanation.
Unofficial Transcripts
The Registrar's Office does not provide unofficial transcripts. If you are a current student you may obtain a grade report on ISIS. Grade reports are rarely accepted by prospective employers or other schools in place of official transcripts.
Costs
Charges are automatically billed through the University Billing Office.
How Much Does a Transcript Cost?
The cost provides for supplies such as transcript paper, envelopes, postage, and supports staff responsible for processing your transcript request. It also helps support the technical aspects of the transcript systems, as well as other key student services enhancements.
